YOGA, and how a Brahmin turned a nervous system reset into eternal enlightenment

Let’s begin with the boring truth:

Yoga is a mammal feature.

Every halfway competent animal on this planet can do what Patanjali canonized. Quiet the noise. Stabilize. Track what matters. Reset. Re-engage. That’s not spirituality. That’s how you don’t get eaten.

But humans, being humans, can’t leave a survival reflex alone. They have to crown it. Name it. Sanctify it. Universalize it. Sell it. Build a priesthood around it. Turn a switch into a staircase to eternity.

That’s what happened to Yoga.

Yoga Was Never Transcendent. It Was Functional.

“Cessation of the fluctuations of the mind.”

Translation: stop your nervous system from thrashing so you can function.

Every deer does this. Every cat does this. Every human nervous system does this when it isn’t hijacked by chronic threat, fantasy, or social noise.

It’s not union with God.
It’s signal-to-noise filtering.

Call it nirodha if you like. Biologists call it inhibitory control. Engineers call it noise reduction. Predators call it breakfast preparation.

Mystics call it enlightenment.
That’s where things go off the rails.

The “Seer” Is Not a Spirit. It’s Idle Mode.

“When the fluctuations cease, the Seer rests in its own nature.”

What poetic nonsense for something so dull.

That “Seer” is your nervous system when it’s not being whipped by threat or stimulation. Low turbulence. Baseline. Homeostasis.

Your laptop does this.
Your fridge does this.
Your metabolism does this.

Patanjali slapped a halo on idle mode.

Congratulations. You’ve achieved eternal consciousness. Please enjoy your parasympathetic nervous system.

Identification with Fluctuations Is Called Being Alive

“Otherwise, the Seer identifies with the fluctuations.”

Yes. That’s called paying attention so you don’t die.

If something moves in the grass, you identify with it. If something smells wrong, you identify with it. If something screams, you identify with it.

That’s not ignorance. That’s survival.

The problem is not identification.
The problem is being stuck in permanent alarm mode.

Yoga is a reset button.
Not a metaphysical ladder.

But reset buttons don’t sell well. Eternity does.

The Brahmin Upgrade: From Biology to Metaphysics

Here’s where it gets interesting.

Once Brahmins got their hands on this very ordinary nervous system trick, they did what priestly classes always do:

They removed the reference.

Originally:
“I quiet myself so I can hear the predator.”

Upgraded version:
“I quiet myself to realize the Transcendent.”

Predator removed.
Transcendence installed.

Now you’re not practicing survival hygiene.
You’re chasing an invisible metaphysical prize.

Much more profitable business model.

Sanskrit: The Original Paywall

Then they locked it behind Sanskrit.

Not because the nervous system only works in Sanskrit.
But because Sanskrit worked as a credential system.

High language = high status.
High status = monopoly on meaning.

Now your mammal reflex requires a Brahmin interpreter.

Your nervous system needs a priest.

That’s enclosure. Not revelation.

Purusha: The Perfect Invisible Product

Finally, they labelled your biological baseline as Purusha — eternal, changeless spirit.

Brilliant move.

Now liberation happens entirely inside your skull.
Nothing changes outside.

Caste stays.
Hierarchy stays.
Power stays.

You can be “free” while remaining perfectly socially harmless.

Interior liberation is politically sterile by design.

The Real Genius of Patanjali

Patanjali didn’t discover God/Ishwara.

He reverse-engineered the human control system.

He found the quiet state.
He found the baseline.
He found the reset loop.

Then it got wrapped in eternity and sold back to you as transcendence.

That’s not fraud.
That’s civilization.

Final Diagnosis

Yoga is not a path to heaven.
It’s a maintenance routine for a stressed primate.

The “Seer” is not a soul.
It’s a nervous system at rest.

Nirodha is not liberation.
It’s noise reduction.

Enlightenment is not escape from nature.
It’s what happens when the alarm finally shuts up.

Patanjali didn’t invent transcendence.
He patented homeostasis.

And Brahmins sold a mammal reset as eternal truth.

That’s not spirituality.

That’s excellent branding.
