Escendent ecstasy
For
escendent read: climb out, from Latin e (or ex) ‘out’ + scandere
‘climb’. Escendent ecstasy (i.e. standing or stopping
beyond or out) happens if and when a state (i.e. a self) is completely
relinquished (dropped, cut off and so on) rather than merely changed. In
short, escendent ecstasy happens when a pilgrim eliminates her state-as-self
(hence her difference). Escendent ecstasy (i.e. the experience of boundless
samenessand which is, wrongly assumed to be absolutely complete) is the
ultimate goal of some mystics. It is claimed by some mystics that escendent
ecstasy achieves ‘@1’ness (i.e. sameness) with the absolute. The Buddhist mystic, Dogen, describes it as
‘dropping body and mind’. |
