The Buddhist’s goal

For goal read: sanctuary (or refuge)

The Goal = Release from unpleasantness (Pali: dukkha), or: Attaining of the deathless

Release from unpleasantness= Nirvana

For release read: relief from, freedom from, liberation from (Pali: vimokkha); extinction, cessation, annihilation, ending; ‘blown out’, extinguished; un-become, un-born, and so on and on.

As the Tathāgata, the inventor of the universal release from the unpleasant (in all its intensities) product (i.e. dhamma) wrote on the package:

‘One thing only to I sell,

release from the unpleasant.’
