The
dung beetle ‘Tiffany’ Tiffany is the vox pop for theophanus (ancient Greek) Theophanus means: manifestation of GOD
The final sculpture of Victor’s Way will
be the dung-beetle (or scarab). Stone: black granite Weight: uncarved approx. 40 tons, carved approx. 20 tons. Size: 9ft 6ins X 7ft 4ins X 6ft 6ins. Workforce: master (i.e. D.V.Murugan)
and 4 craftsmen. Workplace: Art Studio, Mamallapuram,
Tamil Nadu, India. Work duration: approx. 2 years (Covid19 permitting). Arrival in Ireland: possibly summer 2022 In ancient Egypt the dung beetle (or
scarab, Scarabaeus sacer,
see Wikipedia) was symbolized (and/or worshipped) as manifestation of transformation,
renewal and resurrection (i.e. life). The Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun wore a
dung beetle pendant. In Victor’s Way, the dung
beetle (i.e. Tiffany) represents
one selected application (i.e. app) of the basic operating system (or
algorithm) of all living units, including you and me as alternate apps. What
the dung beetle (and every other living system) does is reverse dis-order
(i.e. entropy). In other words it scavenges lower order data clusters to
upgrade itself to a higher order data cluster, just So, in Victor’s Way the dung
beetle (i.e. Tiffany) just one
manifestation (or app) of the procedure (or algorithm, or basic operating
system) that emerges life The procedure some humans, such as pantheists,
choose to call GOD.

The Indian artist
D.V. Murugan The food of the dung beetle’s offspring,
namely the ball of dung (also an alternate cluster of clusters of GOD apps) is not, here in Victor’s Way,
the philosopher’s stone but the philosopher turd. It consists of the
philosophic detritus of 1001 philosophers (i.e. thought experimenters-cum-fantasists)
such as Buddha, Plato, St. Paul, St. Augustine, Voltaire et 996 al and whose
names are carved into the rock) who during the last three millennia produced some
of the most abstruse, albeit entertaining, sometimes malignant, albeit
expedient nonsense (= dung = elephant shit) still being fed to the young and
the naïve. The fact is, no-one
knows how life emerges. The modern pantheist defines life as:
continually (but discretely discontinuous) emerging orders of realness. For order
read: a repeating series of random events. |
